Last week I was blessed to be able to visit a ministry
called The Ultimate Journey in Des Moines, Iowa. I learned so many powerful
things to help take care of my heart and the connection between becoming an
ally to myself and believing the things God says about me. All that I learned
with this ministry are now tools that I can take anywhere I go.
And like with everything I learn, God gave me the
opportunity to apply what I learned and see the power behind those newly
acquired tools. This past Tuesday morning it was pouring down rain and there
was thunder and lightning. My siblings were getting ready for school when all
of the sudden we all heard a loud, roaring thunder. It sounded like a lightning
bolt struck near our house. I was in my room and I could hear my six-year-old
sister, Victoria, running down the hallway. She was screaming and hollering and
when I saw her face all I could see was sheer terror. As she came running in,
she immediately extended her arms looking for comfort in my arms so I reached
down and picked her up. I then sat her on my lap and I held her tight in a warm
embrace. I began to comfort her and acknowledged her feelings. She cried and
cried but the more I said comforting words and allowed her to express her
feelings, the more she calmed herself down. I could feel her little racing
heartbeat quite down. When she finally stopped crying I asked her, “Is it ok if
I pray for you?” She nodded in agreement and I continued to hug her as I prayed
for her. It was still raining and thundering when we were all done but she was
totally ok after that beautiful moment of comfort.
She calls eye contacts incomtacts! :D |
